HR & SAFETY SPECIALIST - SOUTH BAY

Position Overview

The HR Manager / Safety Specialist will assist with the administration of the day to day operations of the HR function and duties for City Park. This position will be part of the Human Resources team and will report to the HR Director.  This position will support the South Bay, which includes: Palo Alto and San Jose regions.  The HR Manager / Safety Specialist will be a strategic partner, employee advocate, a mentor and will be responsible for full-cycle recruitment, new hire on-boarding and orientation, employee relations as well as safety prevention and risk management. The market has experienced tremendous growth, so this position in coordination with the department, must be capable to adapt and change direction to support this growth.

Core Responsibilities

Responsible for all Human Resources functions that deal with the needs and activities of the company’s workforce including the following areas:

1.    Recruiting which includes advertising, internal posting, reviewing of applications, phone interviews and in person interviews.

2.    Hiring – extending offers, background, drug test, math test, pull notice, I-9 eligibility, etc.

3.    Process Improvement - Processing and evaluating each document during the hiring process (H-6, background results, drug test results, pull notice notifications, etc.)

4.    Training and Organizational Development – develop curriculum materials, team building exercises, focus meetings, sexual harassment training, customer services, orientation, etc.

5.    Communication – effective written and verbal, prompt responses to email and voicemail.

6.    Performance Management - Helps with the implementation of policies and programs to assists the company with performance management which includes managing of employee behavior and showing results.

7.    Employee Relations - Assisting with employee relations when needed including disciplinary meetings, tracking probationary period, meetings with union representative and employee and terminations;

8.    Company-wide committee facilitation and participation (i.e., focus meetings, employee opinion surveys, teambuilding);

9.    Benefits Administration - Compensation and benefits administration and recordkeeping;

10.  Safety & Workers’ Compensation – Develop and promote employee safety awareness throughout the organization (i.e., daily, weekly or monthly safety  line-ups, worker’s compensation prevention and review of employee return to work)

11.  Maintaining employee files and the HR filing system;

12.  Hospital Compliance - Support management team with Hospital compliance such as Health Stream and C-I-CARE training, privacy laws, audit materials, etc.

13.  Leadership - Responsible for providing leadership and HR support to operations and management team – guidance, advice on mitigating risk, professional development of supervisors and managers and supporting companywide human resources initiatives.

14.  City Park Ambassador - Champion the organization’s Mission, values, Vision, Goals, and Business Plans.

15.  Payroll - Assist with administration and payroll discrepancy job functions.

Key External/Internal Contacts

Work closely with Area Manager, Project Managers and other supervisors to ensure all the client’s needs and expectations are met. This includes being a positive ambassador of City Park and the assigned locations. The role of HR Specialist must continually communicate with the Human Resources Corporate Team in order to understand the needs of the organization especially if the company is changing and growing.  Human Resources Specialist must adapt and quickly change direction to support the growth. Work very closely with the Human Resources Team and Claims Manager during the employment process, new hire training and disciplinary process. On-going communication with the claims department and provide leadership on identifying preventive measures in order to reduce the company’s liability.

Supervision Given/Received

Supervision is received from the Director of Human Resources and supported by HR Generalist at the City Park Corporate Offices.

Educational and Professional Experience Requirements

                             

The successful candidate will have experience and knowledge in the following areas:

  • 3 to 5 years’ experience in HR Administration preferred
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources Management, Organizational Psychology, Business or related field. (required)
  • PHR Certification (preferred)
  • Knowledge of and experience in parking and transportation industry.
  • Excellent command of the English language both verbal and written.
  • Excellent computer skills, including Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint in a Microsoft Windows environment.
  • Ability to type 50+ WPM
  • Strong personality who is not afraid to command presence with all levels of staff including service staff, supervisors, management and executives
  • Able to exhibit a high level of confidentiality.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Must be able to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner.
  • Knowledge of various HR Information systems (ADP PC Payroll, ADP e-Time, Taleo,etc.)
  • Time Management Skills
  • Excellent social skills
  • Flexible, straight forward and independent.
  • Knowledge of labor law compliance – Title VII, ADA, EEO FMLA, CFRA, LOA, COBRA, etc.
